Sharjah City Municipality launched yesterday a number of smart projects during its participation in GITEX 2019 as part of the Sharjah government's stand. The launch of these projects reflects the municipality's commitment to digital transformation to go in line with the ongoing digital transformation projects adopted by government of Sharjah.
The municipality seeks to strengthen its competiveness on world level and make the most use of the artificial intelligence to continue its excellence and shorten the time and effort required for provision of services.
Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director General of Electronic Government Department; sheikh Mohammed Bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of Statistics and Development Department; HE Thabit Salim Al Turaifi Director General of Sharjah City Municipality and top officials from the municipality were attending.
Al Turaifi said that the emirate of Sharjah has made qualitative progress in digital transformation and innovative projects in implementation of the vision of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sharjah Ruler and Member of the UAE Supreme Council, to strengthen the emirate's competitiveness on world level and the excellence in its smart and digital services.
He pointed out that the municipality is taking steady steps towards completing the digital transformation for all of its services, enabling its employees and customers to accomplish their tasks and transactions easily and digitally.
He stressed that the municipality is keen on participating in GITEX every year to present its latest smart services and projects, highlighting its leading role in this field.
Abdullah Al Qaydi, assistant DG for corporate support at Sharjah City Municipality said that the municipality introduced several digital projects which is of interest to a large segment of customers. Injaz app is one of these projects, providing guidelines for home building and maintenance steps as well as technical advices about how to select the right consultant and contractor, and the suitable designs. It also gives detailed explanation for the steps of transaction accomplishment and required approvals. The app includes several other electronics engineering services.
Al Qaydi added that the municipality also launched an electronic service for issuing certificates for hotels which is required for issuing and renewal of the licenses of the hotels and hotel apartments after getting the required approvals from other departments through one payment portal. This service issues a certificate to the economic development department, stating the number of rooms. It aims to improve work mechanism raise the quality of services and facilitate procedures.
Handassiyat is another smart service launched by Sharjah Municipality at GITEX 2019. It facilitates the procedures of exams taken by site engineers starting from submitting the application that is available 24/7 and the testing procedures, shortening time and effort required. Through Handassiyat service, engineers can register and select the appropriate time for the exam, pay the required fees, undertaking the exam and getting the results instantly.
