Sharjah Municipal Council and Municipality Launch “Youth, Sustainable Future” Program to Support Youth
The Sharjah City Municipal Council and Sharjah City Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Family Development and its branches, have inaugurated the “Youth, Sustainable Future” program, the first youth-led initiative of its kind aimed at supporting municipality employees preparing for marriage.
The launch ceremony, held at Qasimia University Theatre, was attended by H.E. Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Municipal Council; H.E. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality; council members; representatives from various government entities; and the program’s target beneficiaries.
H.E. Salem Ali Al Muhairi stated that the program reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to strengthen the family as a cornerstone of society. “By providing financial, moral, and psychological support, along with tailored training and awareness workshops, we empower young couples to build stable households that contribute to community prosperity,” he added.
H.E. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji emphasized the municipality’s commitment to removing barriers to marriage. “The program equips our young staff with the knowledge and resources they need for a successful start,” he explained. “It also aligns with Sharjah’s ongoing efforts to enhance public-sector employee wellbeing.”
Aisha Al Matou’ Al Suwaidi, Municipal Council member and chair of the program, outlined its phased rollout. She highlighted collaboration with strategic partners such as the Department of Family Development and the Department of Economic Development to extend support across all government entities.
Muwadhi Al Shamsi, Head of the Department of Family Development, described the initiative as a vital step in preparing youth for married life and ensuring family stability through comprehensive institutional support.
Moza Al Shehi, Director of Family Guidance Services, added that the program’s training modules, developed with certified specialists in psychological, marital, family, educational, social, and legal counselling, aim to establish a long-term national framework for preserving the Emirati family and improving quality of life.
The ceremony concluded with a keynote address by Sheikh Dr. Aziz Farhan Al Anzi, who spoke on the social importance of marriage and family and offered practical advice on building relationships based on love, respect, and mutual understanding.
