​Sharjah City Municipal Council and Municipality Welcome Chinese Delegation to Strengthen Cooperation and Exchange Expertise


Sharjah City Municipal Council and Sharjah City Municipality, led by H.E. Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Municipal Council, and H.E. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, welcomed a high-level delegation from the People’s Republic of China headed by Chen Zhizhang, Mayor of Nanjing. The visit, held in coordination with the Sharjah Government Relations Department, aligns with ongoing efforts to deepen cultural, economic, and tourism ties between the two cities, especially as Sharjah continues to gain global recognition for its development and quality of life.
The meeting was attended by several council members, department directors, and senior officials from Sharjah City Municipal Council and Municipality, along with the accompanying Chinese delegation.
H.E. Salem Ali Al Muhairi emphasized that the visit reflects Sharjah’s growing international ties and its position as an attractive destination for living, tourism, and investment. He highlighted the city’s diverse opportunities for success and the value of exchanging experiences to open new avenues for cooperation, particularly in light of Sharjah’s rapid progress in services and infrastructure.
H.E. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji noted that the municipality is committed to forging international partnerships by sharing its advancements in urban services and development with global counterparts. The delegation was briefed on the municipality’s major projects, digital services, and strategic plans aimed at enhancing community well-being and service excellence across the emirate.
During the visit, the Nanjing mayor was introduced to the various departments and functions of Sharjah City Municipality, gaining insights into its innovative projects and comprehensive development plans.
Mayor Chen Zhizhang praised Sharjah’s impressive and accelerated development, particularly in infrastructure and investment facilitation. He expressed admiration for the emirate’s commitment to major development initiatives and sustainable urban growth. He also commended the vital role played by the Municipal Council and Municipality in adopting best practices and pioneering projects that significantly enhance the quality of life and drive innovation in Sharjah.
