SCM launches organic fertilizer production unit in conjunction with UAE Innovation Month

In conjunction with the UAE Innovation Month 2023, Sharjah City Municipality launched an Organic Fertilizer Production Unit as an innovative project that enhances the SCM role in achieving sustainability. The unit produces high-quality organic fertilizers used in agricultural projects. It is also considered one of the innovative solutions in managing Biosolids and nutrients.

The SCM applies the nutrient recovery system for the first time outside USA and Canada.

Reem Al Roussi, Director of IT Department and Head of the SCM Innovation Team, said that the SCM participates annually in the UAE Innovation Month to introduce its latest innovations, achieve achievements, and provide services easily.

The SCM will provide various workshops that promote innovation among participants, especially school students.

Al Roussi explained that the SCM launched the organic fertilizer production unit to produce high-quality fertilizers at its work site, and stop waste disposal in landfills. The unit provides high operational capacity and predictable operational costs. It contains water withdrawal equipment and other ancillary systems needed to produce high-quality Class A fertilizer. ​
