Sharjah City Municipality has announced that Muwaileh Park and Ribbon Park have been certified as "Accessible for Disability" facilities by the World Disability Union. This recognition comes after meeting all the necessary requirements and standards, making these parks qualified and equipped to accommodate individuals with disabilities. The parks offer suitable and convenient facilities to facilitate movement and navigation within their premises.
Obaid Saeed Al-Tunaiji, Director-General of the Municipality, emphasized that the municipality oversees over 70 parks in various areas of Sharjah, all of which provide top-notch service facilities for visitors to enjoy the park's atmosphere and engage in various sports activities. These parks are also considered elderly and disability-friendly due to the suitable facilities and services they offer.
Al-Tunaiji said that the municipality has fulfilled the necessary conditions and standards for Muwaileh Park and Ribbon Park to obtain this certificate. He pointed out that the municipality places significant importance on individuals with disabilities by meeting their needs, eliminating obstacles, and making its facilities and buildings disability-friendly. This is in line with the visions and directives of the emirate, which aims to be a city that is friendly to individuals with disabilities.
Sheikha Dr. Shatha Ali Al-Mualla, the Director of Corporate Support at the Municipality, received the certificate from the World Disability Union. This recognition crowns the municipality's role and success in creating a suitable environment for the people with disabilities and providing service facilities that meet their needs.
