Sharjah Municipality urges landlords and tenants to attest their tenancy contracts

11/1/2021

Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) stressed that the lease contract is a necessary instrument to regulate the relationship between landlords and tenants, so the contract must be attested to guarantee the rights of all concerned parties. The contract is not binding unless it is attested by the municipality.
Hamed Al Qayed, Director of Rental Regulation Department at the SCM, said that the SCM launched a campaign in cooperation with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority to raise awareness about the importance of attesting lease contracts after agreement is reached between the landlord and tenant.
The SCM will contact the concerned parties to the unattested contracts to get them attested as soon as possible.
Al Qayed stated that the SCM held several meetings with the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority and the Department of Economic Development to discuss everything related to unattested contracts.
The SCM is keen to enhance cooperation with all government entities and authorities to provide the best services and complete transactions quickly and accurately.
He pointed out that the SCM has provided customers with all the facilities necessary to attest lease contracts in the city of Sharjah. It also provided several channels, including its website and businessman service centers.
The SCM has also provided your “Awnak” service, where one of the SCM employees moves to the residence of a customer to approve their signature in the event that the signature is recorded in the Emirates ID or the customer use fingerprints.
