​In line with the urban renaissance and construction industry development of the Sharjah emirate, Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) has carried out several development studies and held many engineering conferences, lectures, workshops and seminars. It has put practical procedures to improve and develop the building system in the emirate, raise efficiency of buildings, and increase their quality and lifespan.
The SCM developed the engineering system, and issued a set of construction specifications in the Emirate of Sharjah in 2002. It also updated the system in 2007 and 2017. The system includes the foundations and specifications of construction in the emirate according to the latest codes.
In 2018, it launched the Sharjah First Engineering Forum as a platform that brings together engineering expertise and specialists.
