Sharjah Municipality launches training programs on food safety for food workers in several languages

1/20/2019

Sharjah Municipality has announced the launch of training courses within the Sharjah Food Safety Program to promote public health in the Emirate and protect community members from risks associated with food.

HE Sheikha Shatha Al Mualla, Assistant Director General for Public Health and Central Laboratories, stressed that the training programs are necessary for raising the awareness of the public about public health and promoting best practices in the field of food safety. It targets all types of food dealers to ensure a safe food for the consumer during preparation, production and sale.

She pointed out that the program is not limited to one specific category but includes many categories including food enterprise managers operating in the Emirate, food workers, home businesses approved by a special agreement between Sharjah Municipality and the Department of Economic Development in the Emirate, and school and university students in the majors related to food safety.

Al-Mualla revealed that the Sharjah Food Safety program was implemented on 4700 food establishments until the end of 2018.
