Sharjah City Municipality launched the first phase of a new sewage sludge treatment system with modern international specifications and standards. This project comes as part the SCM development projects for the current year according to its strategic plan.
The new sewage sludge treatment system aims to implement the best international practices in wastewater treatment in line with the urban renaissance and population growth in the smiling emirate of Sharjah. It is characterized by low energy consumption and occupancy of minimum possible land area, not exceeding 20% of the existing area. the operation, control and monitoring operations are carried out through digital systems and "SCADA" program.
The new system is able to treat more than 125 cubic meters of sludge per hour, compared to 25 tons in previous systems, with an increase of 500%. It will also save approximately Dhs 10 million after the completion of its three phases by dispensing with the used chemicals in the treatment process.
