Launched at GITEX within the Sharjah Government Pavilion, this innovative system reflects the municipality’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge ideas and transforming them into pioneering digital and smart projects in line with Sharjah’s vision for digital advancement.
The launch ceremony was attended by H.E. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, alongside numerous officials, general directors, and heads of government departments from Sharjah, as well as directors from the municipality.
H.E. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji emphasized that Sharjah City Municipality’s participation in GITEX Global demonstrates its dedication to digital transformation and staying at the forefront of service innovations. Aligned with Sharjah’s broader efforts to streamline processes and save time and effort, the municipality focuses on developing AI-powered digital solutions across all functions, providing a unique customer experience while enhancing efficiency and innovation in government operations.
Al Tunaiji further highlighted that the municipality’s initiatives are part of its strategy to deliver proactive, customer-centric municipal services, transition to smart solutions, and create a digital work environment that fosters employee innovation and continuous project development.
Reem Abdullah Al Rousi, Head of the Innovation Team at Sharjah City Municipality, elaborated on the Smart Testing System, describing it as the first of its kind in the UAE. Designed to the highest global standards and tailored to the Central Laboratories Department's needs, the AI-powered system automates testing and reporting processes without human intervention.
Al Rousi emphasized that the system simplifies tasks, streamlines procedures, and saves time. It is used for testing plastic products with varying resistance levels, particularly those used in construction and infrastructure, such as thermal insulation and flooring. The system can assess various material properties, including compression resistance, bending resistance, yield strength, and modulus of elasticity.
She further noted that the system is specifically designed to meet local project requirements, delivering faster and more accurate test results compared to traditional equipment. It also improves the quality of plastic products in line with standard specifications, while enhancing the efficiency of construction and infrastructure projects. The system provides an innovative approach to plastic material testing, showcasing the municipality's commitment to continuously updating its laboratory technologies to meet the demands of urban and population growth while ensuring highly accurate results and improved operational efficiency.
