Contractors Evaluation, Classification Committee holds its first meeting

Based on the resolution issued by the Sharjah Executive Council to organize the contracting business activities in the Emirate of Sharjah, the Contactors Evaluation and Classification committee held its first meeting in Sharjah to discuss a number of issues and the goals set by the committee to achieve in line with the Emirate’s vision to push forward the wheels of progress and development.

The meeting was chaired by HE Thabit Al Turaifi Director General of Sharjah City Municipality and the committee's chairman, and all members of the committee. 

HE Thabit Al-Turaifi said that the meeting reflects the committee keenness to achieve the Emirate’s goals, particularly in the light of the great development witnessed by the emirate of Sharjah under the wise leadership and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

He added that the Emirate has become an ideal destination for investors and an attractive hub for businesses because of the many facilities provided to them.

In the beginning of the meeting, The Committee extended its gratitude to HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and the Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, for his support guidance and trust bestowed on the committee members.

The Committee discussed the council’s decision and all issues related to the engineering works such as engineering amendments, requirements, decisions and actions taken to organize these works. 

During the meeting, Sharjah Municipality briefed the committee on the role and responsibilities of its Contractors and Consultants Classification Section, and its services, especially the electronic services, such as the online tests and the star-rating application.

The Eng. Fawzia Rashid Al-Qadi, Director of the Municipality of Khorfakkan, was selected as Vice President of the committee. A Technical sub-Committee was also set up and headed by Eng Khalifa bin Hedda Al Suwaidi, Assistant General Director of Sharjah Municipality for the Engineering and Building Sector. A number of new applications submitted to the Municipalities of the Emirate were reviewed during the meeting.
