Sharjah Municipality Launches Mosquito Control Campaign After Recent Rainfall

4/1/2024

In a bid to address the aftermath of recent weather disturbances, the Sharjah City Municipality has initiated an extensive campaign to tackle the proliferation of mosquitoes in rainwater accumulation zones.
The municipality's proactive efforts are aimed at combatting public health hazards and curbing mosquito breeding grounds, particularly in areas where rainfall has led to stagnant water pools. This strategic move underscores the municipality's steadfast commitment to safeguarding public health and environmental well-being.
Jamal Al Mazmi, Director of Health Control and Safety Department, underscored the significance of the campaign, emphasizing its alignment with the municipality's ongoing mission to elevate health standards across the emirate. With a dedicated team of 50 professionals, comprising engineers, supervisors, and specialized technicians, equipped with cutting-edge tools, the municipality is poised to effectively combat mosquito infestations.
Al Mazmi further highlighted the municipality's year-round vigilance in mosquito control, including active participation in the national mosquito control program in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. Through rigorous monitoring, inspection, and targeted intervention strategies, the municipality remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding public health and enhancing the quality of life for Sharjah residents.
