SCM Gears Up for Ramadan with intensified inspection campaigns

3/11/2024

Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) has announced its comprehensive preparations for the month of Ramadan, with a focus on bolstering its supervisory and service delivery functions to ensure a smooth and safe experience for residents and visitors alike.
Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, underscored the municipality's commitment to providing high-quality services while maintaining strict oversight of food establishments during the busy period of Ramadan. He highlighted the deployment of additional inspection teams comprising 60 trained inspectors to monitor compliance with health standards and regulations.
With the aim of enhancing public safety and cleanliness, the SCM will conduct seven major inspection campaigns throughout Ramadan. These campaigns will target various aspects of municipal work, including food display and storage locations, bakeries, traditional kitchens, and sweet shops. Additionally, intensified monitoring efforts will focus on green areas to deter negative behaviors and ensure the preservation of public spaces.
Parking regulations will also be adjusted during Ramadan, with public parking fees applicable from 8:00 AM until midnight. Free parking for one hour after the call to prayer will be provided around mosques to facilitate access for worshippers.
Service centers operated by the SCM will maintain extended working hours to accommodate the needs of the public, with schedules communicated via the municipality's official social media channels in both Arabic and English. Furthermore, parks will remain open from 4:00 PM until midnight throughout the week, allowing residents to enjoy the facilities during the evening hours.
The SCM urges residents to utilize the 993 Call Center for reporting any concerns or feedback, as it operates round-the-clock to address inquiries and complaints promptly.
