The Sharjah Municipality has teamed up with various government authorities in a bid to tackle illegal vendors and control the prices of sacrificial animals for Eid Al Adha.
The Sharjah Municipality held meetings with the Sharjah Police, Ministry of Labour, Sharjah Naturalisation and Residency Department (SNRD) and Sharjah Department of Economic Development (SDED) to make preparations for Eid Al Adha in terms of controlling the markets, particularly the cattle market, and ensure that prices of sacrificial animals are not hiked illegally.
The Ministry of Labour and SNRD will intensify inspections targeting illegals and ensure that all workers at the cattle markets are legal residents.
Omar Al Sharji, Director of Public Services at the municipality, said there is a plan in place to organise the work in the cattle market and abattoirs to provide the best possible services.
He added that the municipality in coordination with police would see to it that customers — at the cattle market and abattoirs — get parking spaces easily and that there is no congestion due to traffic in the area.
The Ministry of Labour and SNRD will intensify inspections targeting illegals and ensure that all workers at the cattle markets are legal residents. This would help in curbing illegal practices.
