A team from the ESMA visited the SFCL as part of the inspection based on ISO17020 system
The Sharjah Food Control Laboratory (SFCL) has received a renewal of the international accreditation provided by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA(.
Dr Shaikha Rasha Al Qasimi, chairperson of SFCL, said: "This is a great addition to the achievement of the laboratory and the municipality for the efforts that have been made to reach the goal of food control in the local market."
She added that a team from the ESMA visited the SFCL as part of the inspection based on ISO17020 system and hailed the role of the of food inspection section, in controlling the food market.
Dr Shaikha Rasha explained that the food control monitoring section provided the establishments, which manufacture and sell food, with the health regulations to ensure food safety. Inspectors work around the clock to ensure that these establishments follow regulations to prevent incidents, such as poisoning, and to ensure all the food items available in the emirate's market are safe for human consumption.
