Parking spaces in Muwaileh commercial area in Sharjah become pre-paid public parking

2/28/2019

Sharjah CITY Municipality has installed 22 parking meters to cover 1,130 parking lots which have already started operation since February 25. The parking charges will apply from 8:00am to 10:00pm on normal days.

Thabit Salim Al Turaifi, Director-General of Sharjah Municipality, said that the municipality was keen to ensure the availability of parking spaces for the residents as well as visitors and to prevent misuse of these lots by others. The municipality has installed the necessary payment devices

He explained that the municipality decided to include Muwaileh area in the pre-paid public parking zone as it is witnessing rapid growth and has become a hub for commercial projects.

Khalid bin Falah Al Suwaidi, Assistant General Manager for Customer Services at Sharjah Municipality, said that the Department of Public Parking has deployed a special team to monitor all those who misuse the parking spaces and take action against the violators. He added the users can pay for parking through the devices installed by the municipality or text messages round-the-clock.
