Sharjah Municipality plants 2 million flowers across the city

3/29/2015
Sharjah City Municipality has completed the plantation of around 2 million flowers as part of its strategic plan to spread the green spaces and beautify the city with different kinds of flowers and plants, and in implementation of the directives and the saying of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to “ensure there is a flower in front of every home and smile on every face”.
“The municipality has completed recently the plantation and beautification of a number of buildings with flowers and ornamental trees such as Al Qasimia University, Al Majaz Amphitheater, Sharjah Municipality’s New Headquarters and Flag Island, as well as the main streets and squares in the city,” said Hassan Al Tafaq, Assistant Director-General of Sharjah City Municipality.
He asserted that the number of flowers planted recently in the city has exceeded 2 million flowers. The green spaces in the city have reached up to 13,000,000 square meters of area, while the number of public and residential parks reached 60 parks situated across the city.
