Commercial tenancy contracts in Sharjah to be attested online

4/28/2015
Sharjah City Municipality (SM) announced that the commercial tenancy contract attestation service has been activated on its website.
“This initiative came into effect after the success of the online attestation of the residential contracts that has been introduced for more than a year”, said Khalid Al Shamsi, director of Rent Regulatory Department at the SM.
He added the municipality has launched a range of new services as part of its keenness to facilitate its services and in response to the demands of the real estate offices and tenants to transfer normal services into electronic and smart services.
“We have increased the number of the dispute settlement committees to hasten the process of litigation and the provision of services. A number of conciliation committees have been formed to help settle disputes between landlords and tenants before filing complaints by either party” he said.
He revealed that a Sharjah police office will be set up at the dispute settlement committees to ensure rapid execution of rulings and to facilitate the relevant services.
Al Shamsi pointed out that more than 270,000 contracts were attested at the Rent Regulatory Department during the last year. He also called on landlords and tenants to make sure that they get the tenancy contracts attested to protect and preserve their rights as the attested contract is the main document to be considered in litigation.
