SM rolls out six new smart services to expedite transactions for contractors and consultants

4/16/2014
Sharjah City Municipality (SM) has launched six new smart services for contracts and consultants to get their transactions completed within minutes instead of two weeks as they used to before.
The new services have been piloted in cooperation with a number of the municipality’s strategic partners and customers and have been proven successful and effective.
“The new services will be included to the wide set of smart services the municipality already provides to its customers, as it always adopts the state-of-the-art technology to enhance and accelerate its services and help customers get their transactions completed easily and smoothly,’ said Eng. Khalifa Bin Haddah Al Suwaidi, Director of Engineering Department at the SM.
He pointed out that the new smart services that had been launched recently are six services, i.e. issuance of inspection report of consultant’s plans, renewal of building permits, fence and temporary utility connection permit, recovery of security deposit for construction, maintenance or decoration permits, building validity certificate to be within five years of completion certificate’s date of issue, and the renewal of maintenance permit for buildings after six month of its date of issue.
For their part, a number of contractors and consultants who attended the meeting that witnessed the announcement of the new services, hailed the new services and appreciated the SM efforts to facilitate the processing of transactions and to save their time and efforts by making a wide number of municipal services available at the tip of the finger.
