Sharjah sets up 3 Ramadan tents for workers

6/10/2015
Each tent can accommodate up to 5,000 people, and will provide free iftar meals daily
Three Ramadan iftar tents have been set up in Sharjah’s industrial areas to provide labour workers with free iftar meals, announced Sharjah Municipality on Tuesday.
The tents, which have the capacity of accommodating 5,000 people each, will offer people who are fasting free meals daily after the Maghreb prayers in three different locations. Two tents have been placed by housing units for workers in Industrial Area 3 and 12 in Sharjah, while the third is set up in Industrial Area 4.
The Ramadan tent project was organised by Sharjah Municipality in cooperation with Sharjah Charity association, and the Emirates Red Crescent.
Nada Al Suwaidi, Director of Corporate Communication Department in Sharjah Municipality highlighted that the meals, which will be distributed in the tents will be monitored and inspected by the municipality to ensure that they follow health rules and regulations.
“The project will also include a series of awareness programmes and religious lectures that will be held in several languages throughout Ramadan,” said Nada.
The Municipality will also carry out a charity campaign to collect donations for the Sharjah Charity Cooperation during Ramadan.
